Note that I have given this smallish plastic palette five stars. I really have mixed emotions about this. Let me explain. First, this is indeed a very functional palette. I use is strictly for water colors but it could well be used for acrylics or any other water based paint. With the ten wells you have plenty of places to mix. The palette is extremely easy to wash and there is no stain carry-over that you so often find in this sort of product. It is light which makes it easy on the hand and is not overly burdensome when you pack it with your other gear. I like the fact as it is white as it allows me to see my colors better. On the other hand, this palette is most certainly made for smaller hands. While my hands are not overly large, they are never-the -less not what you would call petite either. I like them because they are indeed larger and have extra 'nooks' for putting the extra accessories, foot pedal, manuals, extra books, material and sometimes a small sewing kit for when I take it to class. The size is OK for my smaller White 2000 serger and lots of sewing accessories and material; also good for my Elna 744 serger (larger machine) with pedal and extra feet and manuals. If all you want is something just your machine's size, then better get the smaller Singer sewing case. Do some measuring to be sure. This case is for stand alone machine heads and not the type that needs to be attached with the 2 hinge pegs (for flatbed). I'm very happy with these cases for the above reasons. UPDATE - 7 Aug 2012: In the past few years I have bought three more of these larger cases, one just this past April. So far, the quality has been the same in all of them, same thickness of plastic and the tops fit correctly into the bottom groove... The fact that it is a "universal" carrying case means that it is much larger than needed to accomodate the sewing machine I bought. This is because it is intended to also accomodate a serger, which is a larger machine. Space considerations were a factor in my decision to purchase a new machine and the unwieldy size of the new case made it unacceptable to me. If space is not a problem, this case would be OK. (I am going with acrylics) I added: One Stroke Painting INT1059 Folk Art Value Brush Pack (Amazon) Stainless Steel Painting Knife - Pallet Knife 5-Piece Set (Amazon) and a couple more things like gesso, Matte Finish Spray and larger tube of white (Amazon) In the end the nicest part of this set will be the wooden box. It is very nicely made with dovetailed joints, drawers for storage and good hardware (flip latches) and sturdy leather handle. I will have a convenient place to store all my supplies and I can take them anywhere should I decide to work outside or on location. I love it. The box is classy and convenient. I must say though that besides all that she does have a lot of fun with this and has painted many cute pictures to hang in our new babies room. I would recomend looking for a different paint set if i were you, or at least if you could find this one for a much lower price.
