Product Description

In October 2012, Mars premiered the first single, "Locked Out of Heaven," from his highly-anticipated sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox. On October 20th, Mars made his comeback to national television when he joined the elite club of hosts and performers for Saturday Night Live alongside the likes of Mick Jagger, Justin Timberlake and Elton John. Mars not only showcased his comedic talent to the millions watching, but also debuted the first live performance of "Locked Out of Heaven" and premiered a brand new song, "Young Girls," from the historic stage in New York City.

For Unorthodox Jukebox, Mars and his songwriting/production team The Smeezingtons (Mars, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine) partnered with heavyweight producers including Jeff Bhasker, Mark Ronson and Diplo to create the 10-track album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bruno Mars, Smooth and delicious!, December 11, 2012

Simply put, Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox is an excellent album. Bruno stays true to his pop/soul style while showing that his voice is capable of numerous styles.

Personally I don't always listen to pop music, but Bruno Mars' voice seems to have a huge range, he's gritty, smooth, soulful, sharp, and gentle when it's called upon. He does all of this while maintaining a relaxed timbre and cool about his voice. It just a joy to listen to! In fact his style reminds me a bit of Michael and even some of the old Motown stuff like Smokey Robinson.

Although Bruno definitely excels at what are sure to be hits like "Locked out of Heaven" of which sounds a bit like The Police, my favorite songs on this album are when his voice is unaltered. "When I was your man" is a beautiful ballad that really shows his vocal range and is a really sweet song about a man who looks back on his younger days when he should have bought his love flowers and danced with her. It's just a... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars A little too 80's, but his voice always reminds me of Frankie J, December 11, 2012
This review is from: Bruno Mars - Unorthodox Jukebox (Audio CD)
Brunos style is a little too 80's for my taste, but is a good album regardless of my taste in music. This album comes in 2nd compared to his previous in my opinion because of the variety of songs and style on Doo-Wops & Hooligans. Honestly the reason I am so fond of Bruno Mars is because his voice reminds me of one of my favorite singers, Frankie J, and since he's been away for so long I guess I needed to fill the void. Most people have long forgotten Frankie, but he did put a nice album on itunes in 2011 called "COURAGE" and I think that anyone who has been waiting for newer music and/or forgotten about him should really check it out... Back to Bruno Mars. Really good album. Not as good as his 1st in my opinion. But definitely worth buying especially if your a Bruno fan... ALSO IF YOU ARE A FAN, I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU BUY THE DELUXE EDITION ONLY AT TARGET.IT INCLUDES 5 BONUS TRACKS. And remember, cds are always a few dollars cheaper the 1st week of sale so get it cheaper while... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars He's got talent, December 26, 2012

I don't like the explicit lyrics in the album - other than that, he's got talent and I enjoy the CD. It's just that when you have kids, you can't listen to this with them around - Hey Bruno, you've got some older fans too (49) so ix nay on the explicit language, and keep producing good music!
